NICE VIBE WHATEVER IT'S CALLED

Here's a good one, posted by the Probe way back in 2005 and, don'tcha just know it, it's still online. "Heide" by Hank Jacobs, which the Probe describes as "like Jackie Mittoo jamming with Cambodian rock band". Me? Despite a strong attraction to anything that mentions Jackie Mittoo, I'm thinking more in the vein of Mulatu Astatke, often referred to as the father of Ethio-jazz, but then again it might just be a similar smoky vibe. Listen to "Heide" and let me know what you think it is.

There's a mess of his stuff over at YouTube, "Heide" seems to be the oddball. The rest of his stuff seems to be that mod jazz organ stuff, of which I'm about to binge.

So very good, this post inspired me to find a copy of his sole album and buy it. Thanks for digging.
