Ah hell, so much for going easy on the movies. Another day, another forgotten link. I couldn't let this ersatz film festival end after being reminded of the great films by Mike McCarthy. Seriously, his work is right dead center up my alley. Cool music, oddball plots, indeterminate era, and dangerously hot ladies in a fifties sort of dangerously hot. Pre-skanky ass. As far as the quality of these films, it's relative. They're low budget, but McCarthy more than makes up for it in capturing the feel. You can't imagine them as some big studio production, it would defuse them.
So here's The Sore Losers and Teenage Tupelo, the latter with a soundtrack by Impala (highly recommended). The Sore Losers soundtrack can be had at the link below. There's all sorts of goodies. Mick Collins, Guitar Wolf, the Makers, Jack Oblivion, 68 Comeback and so forth, (m4a format, playable by most players). Do check out the home page of McCarthy's Guerilla Monster Films. You'll be there for days.
