Holy shit. Steady yourself. Keith Richards quit drinking. I never thought I'd live to see the day. I could make a thousand jokes about this but I won't because making a decision like that is a humbling thing to do, and if there was ever a person who would benefit from it, it's him. If you've followed the Stones for more than a few years, you know his rep. How he's still walking around is anybody's guess. But this is a good thing. Personally, I don't give a shit if he ever plays another note (but then, I haven't really cared since Goats Head Soup). Actually, it'll be interesting to see how this sober Keith thing shakes out.
So, guess what? Now you get his cover of Chuck Berry's "Run Rudolph Run" along with Chuck Berry's version, and Berry's "Merry Christmas Baby". And a sigh of relief, because no matter how many he days he had in front of him as a drinker, he has more now. He's given us enough good music (pre-Goats Head of course) that he deserves it. He deserves more days to sit around with his wife and kids.
