Shit. Rick Froberg passed away a few days ago. Big loss in this town. He was in three bands that were all pretty significant in San Diego post-post-punk pantheon, Pitchfork, Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes. Later he started another band, the Obits.
He was a great artist too, as shown in the painting above for a Rocket
From The Crypt LP cover (Rocket singer and guitarist John Reis was also
in Jehu and Hot Snakes). Froberg was 55 and it's been reported that he
died of natural causes. At 55? We'll probably never know...
