I know you. You're the one who gets in a thrift store and makes a beeline for the records. You've rummaged through the records at a thousand garage sales and lurk at your record stores 99 cent bin. You've got a vague mental shopping list and know the telltale signs of a cool old record before you've heard it. At some point, your searches for hot shit stuff runs cold and you start taking chances on goofy stuff, just because it's so cheap. How can you not? That's where Doug Clark fans are born. Sure, they were a popular frat party band back in the sixties, but most Hot Nut fans I know found their music years later in the vinyl ghetto. I'm not sure "Baby Let Me Bang Your Box" was their biggest song, but it was up there. The Bangers version was earlier, but just by months. I don't know if the Bangers recorded anything else. But Doug Clark and His Hot Nuts recorded so much more, loaded with double entendres. With LP titles like On Campus, Rush Week, and Panty Raid, you know who their target audience was. It's not too late. Blow off some sloppy steam.
