BURN YOUR PARENTS' RECORDS

What the hell. No comments at all for the past two months. That doesn't exactly make one want to put out. So I won't. But, listen here pea-greens, if I never post another word here, know this. Rock 'n' roll is doomed without some sort of scuzz. Don't listen to your parents classic rock just because it exists on vinyl. By and large it sucks anyway. You are a different generation. Listen to something that will shake their sensibilities, preferably scuzzy. You are younger, you have your whole life to get spit shined, should you choose to. But you do not want to miss the opportunity to have your parents dislike your music. The Flat Duo Jets had the requisite skuzz. We could use another band like that. Shit's too show biz these days. This video is a shot in the arm.

OK, I'll jump in with a comment. I watched the Howlin' Wolf documentary last night, and it was great. Thanks for posting the link!

Not long after your post Lomax Lament, I ran into a documentary on Hulu called Two Trains Runnin', about a couple of groups of white kids who went to Mississippi in 1964 to search for Skip James and Son House, and how their paths nearly crossed (but ultimately didn't) with the civil rights activists who were there for Freedom Summer. Check it out if you get a chance.

I thought about commenting on your post about reggae movies a while back to ask if you'd ever seen The Rockers, my all time favorite reggae film, but then I didn't.
Dude. I read this shit every day. One of my windows has it open all the time in fact.
I recently noticed that something was burned into the top left corner of my monitor. It was TRASTOS.
Just sayin

Thanks Marc and BigWord. The whole reason for this hack blog is really for a dialog about music. Hard to do that one-sided. I know Marc from comments in the past, but BigWEord, damn nice to meet you. Pipe i more often!

Thanks for the tip on the film Marc. That sounds like it's right up one of my alleys. As both of you have probably surmised, I dig a lot of different types of music. Oh, and BigWord, I have seen Rockers and totally dug it. I think I have it on DVD, but finding it is another story. But I'm due for another viewing.

Just out of curiosity, how did you two end up here? Just curious. Some time back, Google all but erased me from their search results because of too many outgoing links. Hey, that's their prerogative, but it did make a dent. Just a reminder, if you're ever looking for something here, the search box at the top left of the home page works as good or better than the tags (in the right column under "index").

Again, thanks to both of you for piping in. I've fought whining about a lack of comments for a while but when I saw that two months had slipped by without a single one, well, I felt like I'd been pissing in the wind. Hope I didn't splash your shoes.

I ended up here a while ago because I followed a link on another blog - I think it was WFMU's Beware of the Blog. (I have no idea how I found that one.) I started visiting music blogs when I was living in Tokyo in the mid-00s, and there weren't many people I could talk with about music. Most of the blogs I've followed over the years have fallen by the wayside, but there are a few good ones that I still visit regularly, including this one of course.

I first saw "die Rockers" in Germany when I was a teenager. The German subtitles really helped. I found this blog years ago when I was semi-amateur DJing, fiendishly searching for tunes. Your taste in music is similar to mine, and I quickly figured out that I could trust your finds. I enjoy the stories and the humor. Definitely found in a googly search, but that was some computers ago. I've commented rarely, but most recently on your birthday.
Cheers

I suppose now's as good a time as any to (finally) say hello. I can't remember how I stumbled upon this place, but I'm glad I did. I've discovered some eclectic stuff I wouldn't have given a listen to before, so thanks for your enthusiasm.
