WHEN BOSS WENT BADASS

This song, "Funky Nassau" was a hit, on AM radio. You may have missed it waiting for "Brown Sugar" to come on. Not to slight the Stones, or any other chart lurker, but it serves as a reminder how much music there was that got missed because it wasn't hyped, cool, or your (or my) "type of music". If you missed it, but dig the shit out of it now, congratulations. Hell, yeah. Somewhere along the way, you exited your safety zone.

"Funky Nassau" was recorded by The Beginning of the End, a band from Nassau, Bahamas, so they should know. There's a handful of others down there. "Vehicle", another one hit wonder, was by Ides of March. The Dramatics, and Charles Wright and the 103rd Street Rhythm Band both made a couple chart appearances. You might have heard these a thousand times already, but give 'em a good listen.  This is AM radio, early seventies. Those days is gone.
