Here's a oddball that's eluded me. Actually, I posted a snippet a couple years ago, so it might not have been the song that made me keep my eye out for it, just the frustration of not hearing the whole thing. Not that it's worth chasing down. But it is odd hearing Chubby Checker sing about getting stoned...in a bathroom...on a Sunday afternoon. Really, what gives? It's from his 1971 LP Chequered, The first two lines remind me of Wesley Willis's vocal inflections. His little soul shout at 1:55 turns blood curdling a second later. (Wait for it, it's hilarious.) There's another one down there, "Love Tunnel", from the same album. It's got a watered down garage thing going on, with someone trying to sound like Hendrix singing. The cover of "Back In the U.S.S.R." is from '69, and, surprisingly, does not suck. Entirely.
