I dig everything about this song. Start with the title, "Ka Ta Ga Boom Beat". Shit yeah, right? You know it's going to be good. And it is. The song is insanely repetitive; it seems like it's twice as long as it really is. And it's got this booming percussive and vocal rhythm thing going, with Shirley Ellis singing over it. Not so much with it, but over it. And to great effect. Add to that the horns, which are about the only thing glossy about it, and the very short fuzz guitar thing that only lasts a second or two, just long enough to catch your breath. Nice combo.
