TECHNO NIGHT

Here we go. Still trying to get the kinks out of the new machine so I'll keep it short. (If you think I'm milking my computer problems you're correct. That's what I do.) Here's four from Robert Johnson, the OG of OGs. And yeah, I know most of you are familiar with these songs. For those who aren't, figure it out. This is crossroads and devil shit. Spotify is stunting your growth.

Tom, this is me - I also go by pudgym29. I cringe at learning this.
I'm certain I have things backed up here at the abode. I have to pay attention to this, because I am still running Windows 7 x64 (Professional), which is actually still in extended support. Anyhow, I want to ask you if you know how to upload mp3s to the Internet Archive.
For Xmas, I received a new boombox which has inputs for flash drives and Micro SD cards. I used it to transfer all the C-90 cassettes of songs captured from cassettes which I had bought for $1.00 or less which I played at Chicago POWER indoor soccer games in 1995-96 to mp3s.

The files do not break out the selections: It is "Side-A", "Side-B"; but I have indicated what were the numbers originally assigned to the compilation. I also know there are two cassettes which should | could still be out here (#11 & #14) which were left at venues here in Chicago. Both of which still exist.
Do I have to register at the Internet Archive? Can I be semi-anonymous in case a label thinks I am ripping it off? {Would a counter argument that this was how I was backing up my own copies of these songs be effective?}

Hey Steve,

A couple things. One is that I don't upload music. I find music that other people upload. As you may have noticed Internet Archive often only has 30 second samples of songs. When I find someone who's managed to upload full songs (presumably "under the radar") I respect their space by not linking directly to the page that has the songs. They might have a dozen songs (in some cases hundreds of songs) but I'll only snag a couple. That way it's less likely that they'll get a take down notice.

The second thing is that I don't think they monitor things unless there's a lot of traffic. If you upload music, you can claim ignorance and say that you were doing it to preserve music you already owned. That would work only if you don't send traffic directly to the page with your music.

Thew key thing is, whether it's your own music or someone else's, if it's full songs, it's best to not send people directly to the page. It may cause all of their posts to be changed to sample clips. One last thing: When you do run into a post that has full songs of music that suits your taste, check their other posts. I've run into some that have posted a ton of good shit. Don't forget to bookmark them whenever you find them. Some prolific uploaders put stuff up every few days.

Hope that helps!
