The featured mix down there was a no brainer right off the bat. It starts with one of the best set openers ever, "Love Bandit" by the Cadets, a solid smoker of a vocal number with a top shelf intro (though part of the intro is cut off on this set). This is where there's something that hits home. The song is one of my favorite songs by the Cadets, and although it's not rare by any means, it's one of those records that no one ever plays. The set is from a UK bar, on a recent night when the two mugs pictured above were spinning. You probably already know that I lurk at Diddy Wah's blog. That makes it that much greater, hearing a whole hour of it. It's a lot of early rock 'n' roll, some rockabilly, R & B and vocal numbers. I tossed in a few single songs for the mix leery. The Olympics cut is from Diddy Wah's latest post. The Ella Mae Morse cut, "Down In Mexico," though only streaming, is down there because it's on his want list, and the Coasters' version of the same song is down there for you "on the go" types. The Cadets are represented by "Stranded in the Jungle," because that's the one everyone knows, due to the NY Dolls cover. Hint: "Love Bandit," the mix opener, is better.
