I KNOW WHERE I'LL BE

Some might say that Allen Toussaint is New Orleans music. Actually, you could say that about any number of of his peers: Professor Longhair, Lee Dorsey, Ernie K-Doe, the Meters (or any combination of the three dozen Neville brothers), and so on. But Toussaint had associations with just about every one of them, as he did with practically every other significant act from New Orleans, from fifties through the sixties, seventies, and beyond.

You'll like this: it's Allen Toussaint Month at Rock 'n' Soul Ichiban. One of the first posts was these hopped up R&B instrumentals. Citizens, these are Godhead. Toussaint, then going as Al Tousan, was only about twenty years old when they were recorded. And it's not just Toussaint, every instrument on these is just on fire. You really should bookmark Rock 'n' Soul Ichiban and check in with them for the next month (and the next month, and so on,...and beyond).
