No band has ever had a better timed first album than the Ramones did. Right when rock n' roll needed it the most, the Ramones came along and stripped that flashy rock star shit right away. Put them up against what any band was doing in 1976, and contrast and compare.

After a childhood of loving rock and roll, I was sorely disappointed when I got old enough for concerts to find out that my heroes were just a bunch of assholes. Dylan couldn't remember what city he was in. Rod Stewart shot me a dirty look. Keith Richards was on autopilot.
A lot of people forget that's the environment punk responded to. The Ramones were, of course, perfect. Funny how timeless they turned out to be.
Couldn't agree more Tom...Ramones gave us exactly what we needed and just when we needed it. K.I.S.S. has been a motto I've tried to live by (in case you hadn't noticed!).
