MEANWHILE, BACK IN THE STATES

The Rock Shop's "State of Your Mind," is mindblowing-lite, which is to say, won't necessarily blow your mind, but it's pretty damn interesting.  "Far out," as they say.  It's a garage sort of song, a little dirty behind the ears.  At about the 1:10 mark, something pretty cool happens.  The vocals drop out, then the bass, then drums until, at about 1:42, you're ass deep in fuzzed out guitar.  Slowly everything fades back in.  You reggae nuts already know where this is headed.  This is the crazy part.  The mix follows the same basic methodology as early dub.  This was 1967.  Tubby might have already been doing something, but this song sure doesn't sound informed.  It was just some other nut at the board getting freaky.  Just like Tubby.
